According to my personal feature plan, all language strings of the powertraining-part of qtrainer will be stable in the Qtrainer0.6 release.
I will make a dutch translation then.
When someone else sends me an italian translation, Qtrainer will also be available in Italian.
Translating Qt applications is very simple:

But I will search for it on the internet en try to make an eBuild package.
You can still compile the source-code with qmake i guess? - Jul 29 2007

Various KDE Stuff by toonmuylkens 18 comments
I have KDE3.x myself.
You don't need KDE4 at all...at the moment Qtrainer only uses QT4.
So you have to install Qt4: libqt4-core and libqt4-gui
but those libraries can co-exist with qt3 and KDE3.
just use adept/synaptic/yast/... to install qt4, then Qtrainer will work on your computer.
thanks for the comment - Jul 28 2007

Various KDE Stuff by toonmuylkens 18 comments
For compiling do:
qmake-qt4 qtrainer.pro
make
that's all :-)

You never used to see KDE in a gnomish way because gnome was just not as beautifull.
I like the new Gnome/ubunu theme. (still not as much as I like my own KDE theme)
anyway, nice screenshot - Aug 07 2006

When i launch synaptic on kubuntu or mandrake control center on mandriva the computer asks for the root password.
When the computer doesn't ASK for root acces it is just stupid to run an application as root. Because if a securtity hole is abused in that one application, your whole system is at risk!
I have been using linux since 1998 and really I never had the need for a feature like this :-)

"error: GL/glu.h: No such file or directory"
You need to install glu.h
mandriva control center or google.com will tell you it is in the package: libglu1-mesa-dev
things you need when compiling are always in *-dev packages.
maybe you will need liblgl-mesa-dev too....

there is an RPM of tuxsaver available on KDELOOK. Just install that one.
Btw: it seems that this project is the most downloaded of all :-)
NICE!
someone should really develop it further.
My brother, some other guys and myself used to work on it, but we don't have time for it anymore....
maybe i will port it to QT4 when KDE4 comes out.

Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Education Apps by toonmuylkens 26 comments
But I think about EduKator more as a concept to learn stuff.
First you see an animation or so, then you can change some stuff and see what it does, after that one can study the theory and make some exercices.
EduKator can host lingual-stuff too. Or things about history in the future...
But then the application will need to be re-designed a bit, I think....
So if anyone has some suggestions...please let me know

Will it be part of the next KDE release?
Did you talk about it on KDEmailing lists or on IRC or so?

I will take a look at it
....
After doing a quick read:
They say that ati drivers work with composite, but then you lose hardware OpenGL support.
This probably means composite isn't hardware accelerated too.
(Correct me if I am wrong) - Jul 29 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by AlienNation 30 comments
So it will be quite slow to run it.
NVIDIA does support hardware accelerated composite
ATI closed source driver: you can't even run composite.....
I also hope they will fix it soon - Jul 28 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by AlienNation 30 comments
At first I dindn't really understand what you meant, but then I looked at the screenshot and it became all clear.
It would be an improvement in usability and user-friendlyness.
Also it would improve the speed of which you can chance from app to app.
However I have no idea how this could be acheaved... So I can't help you with that.
btw: composite isn't supported by the ati (closed source) drivers, and I have to use ATI at the moment. So I wont be able to test it anyway...
I hope your idea will be realised some day.
cheers

When EduKator isn't available in your language it should choose english.

EduKator supports: English, Dutch, French, Russian, Spanish (only menu's at the moment)
Thanks a lot

The site of tuxsaver is down. But i have made a new one.

It really encourages me to go on and make something really nice of eduKator.
I will think about what you proposed.
I will probably conact people from the edutainment project in a few weeks (months?), when eduKator has evolved a little bit more.
When you have any suggestions, just add a comment or send me an email. This is my very first application developed in QT/KDE.(I am still learning it)

Maybe you can tell me how I should do it?
The programm originally was created in dutch, that's why the source-code of the english version is also in dutch.
I just made a translation file with QT linguist.
If you don't understand my code because of the dutch, just mail me you question, I will translate the code you need willingly.
Thanks for you comment. - Nov 09 2004

I had the same problem once.
I just did:
export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt3/
(the path to qt-lib)
after doing this
[toon@athlon /]$ ll $QTDIR/mkspecs/default/qmake.conf
should give you this output:
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 2341 sep 8 20:29 /usr/lib/qt3//mkspecs/default/qmake.conf
[toon@athlon /]$

btw: I don't know how to make a configure file :-(

I don't have sound either.
I never noticed because I never use the ocean sounds.
I will discuss the matter with my brother (the project leader)
If necessary we will publish a new tuxsaver release
(with new stories and islands btw)

sorry about the late reply
I already have developed a cowboy-like island where TUX can walk on.
But the thing is:
In tuxsaver setup you can change the island but tux does the same things on every island.
So when I develop a story where TUX rides on his favorit lizard, he will also ride on his lizard on the SNOW-ISLAND. Which isn't logical.
or isn't that important?)
I don't know if my cowboy-like island is already included in the current release.
If not I will ask my brother (the project leader) to publish a new version of tuxsaver with the nex island included.

You can try to run 'update-menus' --->
*open konsole (see menu or ALT+F2 and enter "konsole")
*enter "update-menus"
*restart KDE
*does it work??
maybe try to reinstall tuxsaver
*open konsole (as listed above)
*go to the directory where tuxsaver is located (cd /nameofdirectory's/)
*type "su" (+give root/administrator passwoord)
*type "rpm -U tuxsaver-1.0-1mdk.i586.rpm --force"
---> because of force option, you can install it over your 'already-installed' version of tuxsaver - Feb 01 2004
