Hmm... re: time bubble hovering on top:

No easy answer here... I dont remember this anymore, but I think JS is no longer supported. So, moving the time hover bubble away from mouse through scripting is not really an option.

You can:
- remove the time alltogether,
- make it a permanent part of the message. (Now it's an absolute, floating div. Just remove the absolute argument)
- add it to some other div for hover-activation, so that you would need to point to some clock icon in the beginning of text for it to hover, for example.

The last options is the most presentable, perhaps.

Email or message me how you would like it to work. I really don't see a good clean solution here, short for littering the chat window with extra permanent elements. - Nov 04 2008
A very good point, but... :)

1. The style requires some hard-assigned values for proper rendering of bubble tables, but
2. The only way to get the values out of the image dynamically and hard-assign them is with JavaScript, which is intentionally NOT implemented into Kopete for fear of security issues.
3. Images taller than 32 pixels leave huge spaces under bubbles - may be a visual problem.

I highly encourage you (anyone) to try tweaking the CSS file. It has the width and height of the image hard-assigned. Change it so something else, see how it works. Message me if you find a good combination. - Feb 18 2007

Beryl / Compiz ?

Did you try the LITE version?

Is it 3.x or 4.x line of kde?

Unfortunately there are many ways to brake the applet. Let us know more about the system. - Sep 19 2007
Wow! Video bug report, neat! :)

Sorry for the issues. Try the light version. And let us (me dd@accentsolution.com) know if there is a difference.

If Lite version also doesn't work, try capturing the console output. Just start superkaramba from konsole and copy all the messages that appear when you run afoto.

Also, take a look at Requirements page on our homepage. See that they are met - Aug 19 2007
SuperKaramba is a part of KDE. The sources are in kdeutils section

Just upgrade the KDE and you get the new SuperKAramba - Jun 07 2007
DnD is exactly the reason why SK 0.41 is required.

But, you can always just give a path to a folder manually, using the same "Change Image Source" menu option. - Jun 06 2007

I am responsible for that section of afoto and would like to pick your brain a bit in order to fix this. - Apr 17 2007
Please, try to run this in console (as described in changelog section) and send the output to dd AT accentsolution com

If you can, get the 1.6rc6 version out of our google Downloads section. It gives a lot of info to the console.

This is an excellent observation! Finally, there is a hint at what is causing this. Will take a look. - Mar 29 2007
With great help from one of the affected users, the problem was found.

I mistakenly put extra brackets in the code. My python - 2.5 - is very forgiving of that, which is why I missed this issue.

It seems python older than 2.5 complains about it. Will try to fix that (and some other things) and post an rc3 today or tomorrow.

Sincere thx to the user who spent time in helping me track this down. - Feb 26 2007
This is a very puzzling problem.

Please, please, try to describe in more detail what you did and what you understanding of the problem is.

We will try to fix it for next versions. There were almost 800 downloads of a-foto 1.6rc2, and I am worried you two are not the only ones having the problem.

dd @ accentsolution . com - Feb 25 2007
It's hard to say what exactly is going on. Sometimes people DnD too fast and Konqueror doesn't actually pass anything. Sometimes A-foto reject the source because it's not supported (smb:// media:// and other virtual urls)

We'll try to put in an indicator into v1.6 to hint that is really going on behind the face.

Again, if you think this IS an afoto problem, catch us at #superkaramba IRC channel and we'll try to figure it out. - Feb 18 2007
Good question. I was responsible for this part during the 1.5 dev cycle. The problem with edge detection is - I cannot figure out how to find out what the current screen resolution is with python or DCOP.

If anyone knows the DCOP call for current desktop size, let us know, and we will gladly implement edge detection. - Feb 03 2007
I think forcing the KDE to "Save Session" forces Beryl to wait till all applications close properly and a-foto is suddenly ok.

Write to trebola (afoto project owner). He also runs Beryl and already hates my for making him endure that popup. :)

I think he found some some way to bypass the problem with "save session"

I'll try to fix this some time in mid February. - Jan 27 2007
To support multiple A-foto applets a "afoto is already running" flag (in a form of a file) is left on the harddrive.

When last a-foto is asked to quit, it removes the file.

Compiz / Beryl don't ask, they "kill" superkaramba when "log off" is chosen.

On next start 1st afoto you run sees the file on the harddrive and complains.

It is save to "Continue" loading afoto in that case.

Will need a better way to implement the "i am already running" thing, but I just dont have time. I tried DCOP - no worky in this particular case. - Jan 27 2007
Are you using Beryl or Compiz as window manager? If yes - that's the side effect. If not we will try to figure this out...

You can sometimes catch at least one of people working on this theme on @superkaramba channel on IRC. Ask for suslik - Jan 27 2007

I found the [?] button imagery a bit confusing, but the rest of it is clear and plain perfect even for newbies.

Consider a gear or something implying "processing, changing, setting up" function for the [?] button (I assume it's the settings button, right?). - Aug 25 2007

A few pointers:
- SuperKaramba v0.5 and up (KDE4) supports loading SVG files AND drawing directly to an image point-by-point. So, there will be no need to save-n-load.

- This is a cool effort, but after trying Rainlendar (rainlendar.net) every Karamba calendar feels like a hack. :( I'd just recommend using that, until KDE 4 becomes a real desktop platform and creating cals for it starts to make sense. - Aug 15 2007

- Changed the function loading translations to work from inside skz
- Changed the basket start up button behavior to try DCOP way if BasKet is present.
- Switched to using the appropriate system icons. This way people with other icon themes will see the icons in the appropriate way. (I use Flamenco (Tango-based) icons with custom tweaked basket tag icons)

http://accentsolution.com/kde/desktopbasket.ed2suslik.skz.zip
(remove .zip from the end after downloading)

Some of the changes are hackish (the menu entry and custom XML parser for example) but the rest is quite ok. - May 27 2007
I dont think you need to extract the locale, since you use the getThemeFile() to get it.

But the Open dialog for the background is on the mark. 2 outcomes there, either extracting it, or implementing a "back to defaults" button of some sort.

For extraction take a look at this file
http://a-foto.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/afoto.py

lines 342-423 - May 27 2007
Hi there.

I tweaked the theme a bit:
- no need to install Desktop tag. Now the theme will ask the user which of the basket tags is to track.
- Added a menu item to the list to change desired tag
- turned the theme into skz file.

http://accentsolution.com/kde/desktopbasket.skz.zip
(remove the .zip from the end of file. My server doesn't server skz files directly)

Everything added is taken from my GPL 2 or up projects, so both, the copyright and license is clear.

Will be happy to help more, some time later in the summer.

Cheers. - May 27 2007
This is fricken genius! An almost perfect solution to the problem of a bit heavy Basket window.

With KDE4, superkaramba applets will be able to hover above windows, with full composite support. This can be a good Knotes-like satellite for BasKet.

good stuff! - May 26 2007

Was a bit puzzled for a while why the toolbar buttons are not allowed to be more than 22 pixels. Looked into the theme file, and, of course, the allowed sizes for the toolbars were 16,22.

Be a pal, add 32 to the lists, so the future generations would be puzzled like me.

Hi,

take a look at a-foto code. You will find a lot of neat things in it, that resolves what bothered initial a-foto users. For example, some cameras produce "jpeg" extension, as opposed to
jpg. Also, windows-loand users drag in files with capitalized extensions.

The neat way to seek out picture files is in the file plugin, using walk() function.

A-foto is GPL, copy-n-paste. don't reinvent the wheel unless you really need to.

Once you are happy with your creation and skill level, you are always welcome to help us at a-foto. - May 14 2007

One interesting direction would be to overlay 2-3 meters for each direction on top of eachother and have maximum numbers for last 2-5 minutes stay on the underlying meters.

Since putting in graphical history is against the "Simple" part, and having just the last usage value may be deceiving, having historical maximums on the "same" meter would be a good middle ground.

The closes analogy I can give if that of some fancy equalizers, that keep one bar floating for peaks.

The buttons do detract from that a bit, but what a must-have!

Just saw the Oxygen theme demo video, and this will kick Oxygen's ass!

Try making the buttons similar in style to the pull-down boxes and other "floating" elements. You can probably differentiate the buttons well by either making the border thicker and/or rounding the corners.

Don't despare, this is a very cool app.

2 things to think about:

- consider parsing and using actual iCal files for "to do" items. If you manage to create add / view functionality, people using Korganizer / Kontact will be immediately in your camp.
(There are a number of ways to read iCals. Look for dbKalendar, or Milo Calendar for the iCal.py library)

- Don't give up, this is a worthy effort.
