Sorry to disappoint you.
This splash screen is based on usplash which was replaced in Ubuntu several versions back with plymouth. Therefore it will not work on current versions.

I don't think that I will release a Plymouth version, though. - Nov 22 2013
Stay tuned. I will try my best to work on something soon. - Sep 06 2010
Lucid is using Plymouth to draw splash screens while booting, the fingerprint theme is still based on USplash. Therefore it should not be working.

I hope to have enough time soon, to work on a Plymouth version. But I cannot promise anything. Help would be highly appreciated. - Sep 06 2010
I have not optimized this splash screen for grub 2, that might be the reason why it is not working propperly on Ubuntu 9.10.

But if you find the right parameters for grub you should put them into
to get the silent mode working.

The next new version is planned to be based on plymouth. - Feb 19 2010
Normally this value should be set automatically. strange... - Aug 03 2009
Does the file /etc/usplash.conf cointain the following data?

yres=768 - Aug 01 2009
Try to set your resolution for usplash to 1024*768. - Aug 01 2009
The resolution you have to use is 1024*768

try to deinstall the fingerprint. then reinstall the normal usplash of your system e.g. usplash-theme-ubuntu.
Then install usplash-theme-fingerprint. - May 14 2009
In my version for Hardy, there is no function for a verbose mode build.

You could try to download the latest version (which is for jaunty) and compile it yourself. I do unluckily have no longer a hardy machine to pre-compile it.

There is also the problem that the text box in verbose mode is too small and if you use an ext-filesystem the filesystem-check will use more space and go beyond the border of the text box.

I hope i could help. - May 13 2009
it should ;-)

What have you done?
How does your menu.lst look like?
How did you install it? The latest version from the ppa? - May 13 2009
New version in ppa released, which should fix wrong usplash settings - May 07 2009
You use the screnn resolution of 1024x768 in usplash? - May 07 2009
Which ubuntu version do you use?
What is the native resolution of your screen?
Can you post the boot-entry from your menu.lst please

Then I can help - May 07 2009
Then u use not my version of this usplash theme.

Go there:

and download the latest version. - Apr 06 2009
I am sorry, but i really have no idea, where i could look to solve this problem.

Have you tried to compile the theme yourself?

Regards, Phylu - Feb 28 2009
I try to set up a lauchpad ppa until the next version. This should help to use this usplash without any problems. - Jan 29 2009
The problem is that the backround picture has an resolution of 1280*1024 ad it wasn't made by me. So this is the biggest resolution i can make one. But i think there will be one in the next version - Jan 24 2009
You can try to download the source code. Then open a shell and change to the directory you unpacked the source.

Then type 'make' and the 'sudo make install'

But you need the usplash development package to do so (should be libusplash-dev).

Good luck...

And I'll do my very best to look if I can finde resolve the problem. - Jan 20 2009
You shuld load up your screenshot anywhere, so I can see it.

You downloaded the .deb package? The .tar.gz achive only contains the source code. - Jan 19 2009
I'm sorry, but I can't see a mistake. Can you try the old version? I made it (the V0.1-1) on Hardy and it worked. - Jan 02 2009
Perhaps a problem in the menu.lst. Wrong resolution, no splash activated...

Can you post the boot entry from you menu.lst? - Jan 01 2009
Hmm... I can't find a problem with the links. They should all work.

Try the download page on my homepage: You can switch the language (German or English) at the bootom of the site.

If even that doesn't help give me your e-mail and I will send you the package. - Dec 28 2008
I see no reason why it schouldn't work under 64 bit. But i have no possibility to try it.
What have you done to install, and what doesn't work exactly? - Dec 28 2008
Open a console and type "sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst" to edit the boot menu. Search for the first boot entry which should look like:

title Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-11-generic
root (hd0,5)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-11-generic root=UUID=3c40ab0b-e9c4-4781-9027-3919804008bb ro splash quiet
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.27-11-generic

Add "vga=791" to the line kernel and "splash" if it isn't set.

Then download the latest .deb package and install it. That's it.

If it works then you can edit the default boot options in the menu.lst not to loose the settings.
Search for the line defoptions. It should look like
# defoptions=splash quiet vga=791
- Dec 24 2008
Just edit the line kernel:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-9-generic root=UUID=64f0112c-f326-48d7-950e-66b93216dd6e ro splash - Dec 15 2008
type "sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst" and search for your 1st boot entry. - Dec 14 2008
Thanks for nothing - Nov 25 2008
I'm really sorry. I changed it. - Nov 25 2008
I use it with hardy, what exactly doesn't work at your machine?

Other resolutions may come if I have enough time. - Nov 25 2008

As with the new version there should be no problems with grub2 anymore. If there are some, though, please report it to me. - May 20 2010

I really like this USplash.

But when using the verbose mode the security check of vfat formated hard discs go beyond the scobe of the textarea.

I also have this problem with my own splash screen and heaven't found a solution yet.

A photo of the problem can be found here:
