Hmmm. That's a new one to me. Have you tried downloading it a 2nd time?

It sounds like the file might be corrupted. The correct md5sum is 16f653522a775eafed74561afc0b20b6.

If you still have problems please send me an email (its on my profile page). - Jan 07 2007
Sorry about that, it should say that it needs 1.4.2 (beta is ok) and up. The devs changed the db table structure for this version which made my old script stop working for me.

I've fixed the error message to include the proper version for the script & amarok.

I like the built-in suggestions feature, but it doesn't really help when you want info a the song that's not currently playing... plus the script links directly to last.fm, which I use a lot. - Aug 10 2006
I'll look into it, I didn't even know it was possible until yesterday, when I was browsing around this site and saw the smart dj script.

I don't know javascript very well so it may take a few releases before it gets in.... - Nov 29 2005
Could you tell me what that version does? I only have 1.3.5 on my most up-to-date machine and don't have the time to build a newer one?

Is it the same suggested songs feature as in 1.3.5?

I don't want to duplicate what the developers are doing if I don't have to. :-) - Nov 29 2005
Thank you!

I always appreciate feedback.

I already found a new bug with artists with xml entities in the url. I will hopefully fix and upload a new version of it sometime this week. - Nov 28 2005

Problem seems to be the -DPIC macro is also needed when compiling. See http://strigi.sourceforge.net/index.php/Compiling#relocation_R_X86_64_32_against_.60a_local_symbol.27_can_not_be_used - Jul 05 2006
Strigi 0.3.2 Release - Can't Compile:

Hi since I didn't see a bug report location in the readme, I'll stick my error here ;-)

When I try to compile I get this...

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: /home/john/Unpack/strigi-0.3.2/src/streamindexer/libstreamindexer.a(query.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/home/john/Unpack/strigi-0.3.2/src/streamindexer/libstreamindexer.a: could not read symbols: Bad value

I get this whether I run cmake without any command line options, or if I run it with cmake -DCFLAGS="-fPIC". I didn't have any problems compiling the last release.

I'm working with a amd64/gentoo system. - Jul 04 2006

Hmmmm, I'd have to see what types of interfaces amarok provides a script writer. I'll look into it. - Jul 25 2005
For eample, in gentoo the package is dcoppython, so I'd just 'emerge dcoppython'. In debian it should be python-dcop so you would 'apt-get install python-dcop'.

I don't know about other distros at this point. - Jul 25 2005
Not currently, but it's an interesting idea. I don't think it would be that hard to do, since all I would have to do is find songs that don't match in the collection, rather than songs that do match, like I do now.

Of course, this wouldn't actually change the playlist, like it currently does. What do you think the gui to show non-matched songs would look like? - Jul 24 2005

Try running the ip command (probably in /sbin on most systems). I find it a little easier to grep. Try running it with "ip link show <iface>" to show the status of one interface or skip the interface for a list of those that are available.

I like the visual style of your theme, I hope this helps a bit. - Feb 01 2004
