I suppose a preview button would be fine.
The tooltip for this could be something like 'preview day to night transition'.
However, would this work in the instance that you had just installed redshift for the first time and placed the plasmoid somewhere? Redshift wouldn't be running so the code would have to start redshift if it isn't already running I guess. - Jul 12 2012

Sorry for putting another feature request here. I think in the event of one of the methods not working for some setups, it would be useful to have a preview mode which would show the transition from nighttime temp to daytime temp (yes f.lux has this).
Then if there was a tooltip for the method select which would say something like 'if randr doesn't work try vidmode', users could quickly solve such problems. - Jul 12 2012

Hi, thanks for your reply.
If I don't specify the method, redshift appears to start successfully using randr.
However, nothing happens on the screen, so when using the plasmoid it doesn't work either.
The vidmode issue has been noted by the redshift developer: -

Hi.
Love this plasmoid but since updatess to nvidia (302) and/or the kernel (3.4.4) it stopped working.

To fix it I made a config file to specify vidmode rather than randr.

Would you consider adding an option of choosing the method from the plasmoid so users in the future can choose the one which works for their hardware? Many thanks.

Loving this theme! A couple of questions however...

When changing to the new repo, I tried 'sudo make uninstall' in the build folder but apparently there was no 'target uninstall' so I ended up just deleting the directory and doing a git clone from the new repo. Everything seems ok but is there a way to uninstall it from the command line?

Also, is it safe NOT to make a build directory and just make the program in the oxygen-gtk directory as is?

Hi Hugo,

That script worked but I had the same problem as before. I've fixed it by purging and reinstalling all kde packages (and now have a much leaner system).

I'm now using oxygen-transparent at revision 1173860. Fantastic to have it back! There is one small problem though - sometimes tabs and buttons have a black outline and oxygen-settings loads without the content.

Error details: - /usr/lib/kde4/kstyle_oxygen_config.so: (/usr/lib/kde4/kstyle_oxygen_config.so: undefined symbol: _ZN6Oxygen9ItemModel4sortEiN2Qt9SortOrderE)

Not sure if this is connected to your latest changes mentioned in your blog post, but I do have an Nvidia graphics card: GeForce 9400M. - Sep 10 2010

Since yesterday, oxygen-transparent is not workign with KDE SC 4.5.1

The installation is successful but I cannot select the Oxygen style (the windeco works).

Oddly enough if I start Dolphin as sudo it uses oxygen (non-transparent).

However, if I start a program and try and force the style I get this: -

Great news.

I guess KDM is gonna have to be different to the old Ethais one as surely you want to keep the centred Kubuntu logo for consistency? Username and password dialogues must go below I guess. Something like OpenSuse 11.2

Back to Plymouth... it works for me but seems to be designed to show splash only after mounting finished, that's only possible after ureadahead, hence 10-15 seconds of anything as long as it's black. I...miss...usplash! - Apr 18 2010
