Alright, 0.56.2 fixes the problem. Also, no output at all when starting from konsole (with and without newFirefox=true in the config file).

Thanks a lot! - Feb 27 2008
Hi Craig!

I am getting a lot of error messages from Firefox 3 when using QtCurve:

(firefox-bin:17268): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GtkArrow' to `GtkContainer'

(firefox-bin:17268): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_container_add: assertion `GTK_IS_CONTAINER (container)' failed

(firefox-bin:17268): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_realize: assertion `GTK_WIDGET_ANCHORED (widget) || GTK_IS_INVISIBLE (widget)' failed

(firefox-bin:17268): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_gc_set_ts_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_GC (gc)' failed

(firefox-bin:17268): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_paint_arrow: assertion `style->depth == gdk_drawable_get_depth (window)' failed

Also, the "down arrow button" of the drop-down location bar widget is not drawn. It is drawn correctly when using gtk's default theme. I have not tested with other GTK themes though... Oh! and it is drawn correctly when customizing the toolbar !? Go figure... :)

Distro is some kind of Arch Linux...
cairo is 1.5.8
glib2 is 2.14.6
gtk2 is 2.12.8
qtcurve is 0.56.1
firefox is 3.0 (beta4, 2008.02.25).

Bye! - Feb 26 2008
This style is simply the best out there. The drawing routines optimizations that went into this release are really noticeable. I use the "nv" drivers (not the closed-source ones) and I get a major drawing speed boost.

Thanks :) - Aug 25 2006
Yep! Now builds perfectly :) Thanks... Great work as usual by the way! Bye! - Jun 15 2006
But in fact, when you 'make' the gtk2 directory, it builds, it is the gtk1 directory that fails, even though it is just a redirect to the gtk2 dir. - Jun 15 2006
There are a lot of warnings but this is the error:

../gtk2/qtcurve.c:3478: error: 'struct qt_data' has no member named 'app' - Jun 15 2006

Well, just to contradict the claims above, i will take this short moment to thank Mr. Laffoon for his hard work. I've used Kommander on many occasions in the past and always liked it a lot. I can't wait to play with the new features. I also donated 10 bucks right away to help maintain the development of this wonderful piece of software.

Sincerely, ATU (Anti-Troll Unit).

And while i'm here, a little question ;)
Are transparent icons on eg. push buttons looking nicer nowadays? They used to look quite bad. It would be a nice touch to make Kommander scripts look better... - Feb 26 2008

Hmm... You still run KDE 3.0.6? Thats why. Plastik windeco changed in between KDE 3.4 -> 3.5 (or 3.3 -> 3.4, i cant remember). - Jun 08 2006
WinDec: It's Plastik, the KDE default. - Jun 07 2006
Hmmm... I will take a look at this... I did not noticed that the stripe rendering had changed... New version coming soon. - Apr 17 2006
Nice idea, will try to do this soon... - Mar 18 2006
You are right there is a problem with the build system in Lipstik 2.2... Look for an update soon here... or just use the Debian's package source of Lipstik 2.2.1. (A not yet published anywhere else but in Debian Lipstik release fixing this bug.) - Mar 18 2006

Do you mean the half-rounded selected menubar highlight? - Mar 18 2006
I have not been able to make it work... I guess it will have to wait until a Qt4/KDE4 port where the rendering capabilities will be more advanced. - Mar 18 2006
Its the Composite extension with KDE's kompmgr at work. You need to enable it in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and then in KWin configuration panel. Its nice but not quite fast/stable enough for eveyday use, yet. Consider this for now as a nice marketing trick :) - Mar 18 2006

These are known problems, I am currently looking into fixing them (as soon as i can).

Thanks for the report. - Mar 14 2006
That behaviour is wanted... I want to match Qt4's plastique style with regards to scrollbars (which they supposedly took from lipstik in the beginning... so...) - Dec 10 2005
Nice idea... I will check out if its possible... - Dec 08 2005
You are right! Stay tuned. - Dec 08 2005
What is your distro? Are you able to build it?

Evil: Try making a symlink named automake-1.8 to your current automake-$VERSION. - Dec 06 2005
Looking at this output, i think you should set your computer clock to tommorow, then rebuild lipstik, and reset your clock. - Dec 06 2005
Thanks! - Oct 31 2005
Thanks a lot! - Aug 30 2005
Well... I dont know debian a lot but I think you should install the kdelibs-devel package. - Aug 19 2005
Oops, thank you for the report. Will be fixed in the next version. - Aug 12 2005
All good suggestions! Thanks!

But can you explain a little bit what you mean by label highlighting? - Aug 04 2005
The navigate icons are coming from Crystal Clear. I use a custom mix of many icon themes. Mainly Nuvola, Crystal (KDE, SVG 1.0, and Clear), Glaze, NuvoeXT...
Now the 'trick' for the view buttons is that the toolbar containing the navigation icons is the "location" toolbar. The "main" toolbar is used to display some basic icons (show panel, new tab) and the rest comes from the 'merge' of the various kparts (kfm, khtml, kate, etc.).
For the rest, like the 'LIX' kmenu button, you could maybe try kbfx. I sadly never had the chance to try it, but from what i can understand, it easily allows you to use a custom kmenu button.
The color-scheme is Lipstik White.
The windec is plastik. (an old version... I still use an old KDE 3.4 beta from february's CVS... never crashed once... :) - Aug 01 2005
And by the way... the Qt4 port is purely vapourware now... But I promise it will be out before Longhorn. :) - Aug 01 2005
This will mostly be a big rewrite and the first Lipstik to support Qt3 AND Qt4. - Aug 01 2005

Hmm... just realized there is a great KDE app for torrents, ktorrent... So this might not be that important anymore :)

Have a nice day! - Mar 08 2006
Thanks for the fix with Gimp 2.3...

But now, I have another problematic app... :)

I tried it with Bittorrent 4.4.0 and it works ok, the only problem being the file dialog will not show the second time. Meaning, it (the file-dialog) opens the first time you use it, but not second...

Bye! - Mar 08 2006
Tried it with the GIMP 2.3 and file-open dialogs are ok. The problem i get is with saving dialogs... where all gimp saving options are not shown...

I guess it is quite hard to translate those functions to a kdialog... eg. I have a foo.xcf that i want to 'save as' test.png. In GIMP i would normally just type test.png and hit save, it would immediately send me to the png saving options dialog, but the kdialog asks me if i want to overwrite foo.xcf and then saves the file as test.xcf (should be test.png...)

If I hit cancel when GIMP asks me to overwrite foo.xcf, it then sends me to the png saving options dialog and after saves the file as test.png... - Mar 06 2006

Great! It "works for me". On Slackware 10.2. The only problem seems to be the separator between the tree view and the content view; its not working as it should. But maybe this is more about PyQt or something. Anyway, very good for a 0.1 release! Cant wait to see some more tuning.

Thanks. - Jan 05 2006
