The Dolphin sorting thing, yes, no problem with that as I'm using this feature quite heavily.

Also I was thinking about adding an option to use your favorite folders. I'll check it out next week as I'm heading out for a Telepathy sprint tomorrow. - Sep 13 2011
I disagree. The only thing it does is that it reads the config file that Dolphin stores in folders. That doesn't sound like "it will always cause compile errors". What was the compile error anyway? I may fix it.

And I highly doubt that this will need changes with every Dolphin change (that would mean that all your current sort settings in Dolphin would stop working with every such change in Dolphin). And it really does not depend on Dolphin in any way, so there's no reason why it should break with Dolphin changes. - Sep 12 2011
It's about consistency. If I have a specific sorting set for a folder, I expect it to be everywhere throughout the system. Since the quickaccess plasmoid serves as a filesystem browsing tool, it makes sense to use the same sorting as in the 'main' file manager. Besides, it was optional. - Sep 11 2011
Why did you remove the Dolphin sort features (if that means removing the ability to sort the folder according to what sorting was used with Dolphin [and is respected by others file managers like Konq])? - Aug 31 2011

Well, the transparency doesn't work at all. Wait, I do need active composite manager, right? I don't have any right now, that could be it.

Otherwise I'm on KDE 4.5 beta1 and Qt 4.7 - Jun 09 2010
Patch was complaining about some missing ">" on line 7 (?), but I applied it manually. Also, there should be

QX11Info::display();

on the first line (with the leading Q ;)

But somehow translucency doesn't work for me at all (yep, enabled at compile time) =/ - Jun 08 2010
Me once again :)

Now regarding the "UNO" toolbars. When it's active, it sort of de-bespinifies Amarok. It changes the topbar gradient to inverted colors, so it's white again, but it looks...well, not that good. Sending a screenshot...

http://imagebin.ca/view/Kx3XWq.html

Not a big deal though...just reporting it ;)

Also I noticed, then when 'Include window title' option is active and some other window decorator than bespin (kwin respectively) like emerald is chosen, the main menu bar sometimes won't get drawn at all. - Nov 14 2009
No problem, glad I could help ;)

Many thanks to you for this quick fix. Yeah and thanks for all the work & love you're putting in bespin, it's truly a wonderful theme! - Nov 13 2009
Okay, here's the backtrace:

http://pastebin.com/m13b80aeb

Well the -style option works, but when it loads the theme kcm (and thus the bespinified widgets), it crashes. But I can run at least Dolphin again :) - Nov 13 2009
Great news! Just updated to the latest svn (r819) and got some bad news! After the make && make install combo, every Qt app is now killed by SIGSEGV, including the kde theme config module (so no way to set different theme :)

I suspect it has something to do with views and mouse over them. I'm able to run bespin config utility, but when I move the mouse over the presets lists, it crashes. The bad (if not worst) thing is, when the kde-debug thingy comes up after the crash, I switch to 'Info for devs' tab to get the crash traceback, but then this bug-helper crash itself too, so I have actually no way to tell you, what may be wrong :D

I'm on KDE 4.3.2 && Qt 4.5.3 (both 64bit). Given to the current state of my kde (run anything-->crash, now I'm even scared to log off:D ), any advice is highly appreciated :) - Nov 13 2009
Cool, although I'm using bespin for almost a year now, I have never noticed, there are plenty presets coming with it ;D It could use something like autoimporting them into bespin config...

Also, I'd like to ask, if it's possible in bespin to configure just the top toolbar color independently of the rest of the window, like in this screenshot (that darker menubar+toolbar): http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Dust_Oxy?content=114633 - Nov 10 2009
Will it be possible to blur the transparent parts of windows when using ARGB? Something like vista's aero does...other way it's not much useful, when you see 'clearly-through' your windows :)

Also, I like the color+bespin preset in your ARGB screenshot, would it be possible to export and upload it? ;) - Nov 07 2009

You should really replace those #include <qt4/ ... > includes as suggested some months ago here in comments. It's unable to be compiled under Fedora 13. Also there is problem with include in kmpbase.cpp - the line #include <phonon/SubtitleDescription> should be with non-capital P in phonon, otherwise it gives compile errors.

Furthermore I have some linker issues about sqlite3_prepare, but I'll look into that later...

If it was integrated with the Info sidebar, then you would just click on the file and you would see the metadata immediately (much better user experience and ergonomy). Just a little usability note on the settings window, IMHO it's not good that the first displayed tab has everything disabled in default. You should put the Role setting from the Advanced to the Arrangement tab, because firstly I think that it's not advanced setting anyway, but more like a basic setting and also it's more connected to the settings in Arrangement (cause the Role affects the enabled/disabled state of things in Arrangement tab) - May 14 2009

Well I think that there aren't so much other-than-letter-characters, so you could make that set, because only a small amount of keyboards will have some more characters. For most latin layouts, there won't be any other char then these:

,.-§)=´¨}{*&^%$#@!`;°~?:_"!/(<>|€¶[]'+\-1234567890

...and maybe I missed something. But most layouts will definitely have their non-letter keys from that set as there aren't much more (if any) other non-letter characters, so every other key, that does not contain char from that set is most probably letter, either normal or some national specific. And if it isn't, the toUpperCase() function (if you're using something like that) should return the same non-letter char.

But maybe I'm missing something... - Apr 26 2009
Hm...I'm not sure which is better. Maybe you could shift only all letters and leave the rest as it is. Or make a set of all non-letter chars, like .,-§/()%#$^}&* and so on, add numbers to this set and then shift everything which is not in that set. That way you would shift every special letters in most layouts.

Would it be possible? - Apr 20 2009
3) Indeed the labels only on keys with normal letters should be set to upper case.

That's not correct, because for example in Czech layout, the numbers row above letters has also characters in default, which should be set to upper case. Therefore you should set to uppercase every key that contains letter, or more accordingly, everything that does not contain letter (keys where are numbers, non-letter characters, brackets and so...)

7) That's probably the hardest bug. Two reasons. First: I cannot reproduce it.
Second: Even if I could it's probably a problem with Qt-Eventmanagment and that is hard to fix for me.

Hm, that happens only when using stylus or touch, so maybe some X or Wacom driver bug, I'll try some more testing and I'll report back.

Other answers: Thanks :) - Apr 15 2009
Just two more notes:

1) I'm using my own composed plasma theme, it's a mix of oxygen, elegance, naked, sabre tiger and makos

2) You could adjust the cmake line to:

cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix`

that way it gets installed properly for every user on every distro ;) - Apr 14 2009
