Glad you got it sorted. Enjoy! - Apr 14 2020
Sounds rather like a graphic driver issue to be honest. If it loads at some point, there's no good reason it should be the theme's fault. Please provide more info. Also consult you distros forums. Do you have any customizations regarding your distro's init and/or SDDM? Do other themes work on first boot? What distro is this? - Apr 13 2020
Hey nicosariego. You could write your own daemon, cron or script to change the user.theme.conf according to time. This would need to be set before SDDM starts though since it sounds you want something like "Good Evening!" when its late. You could write a custom made service for this, but the effort and time, depending on your skill, is questionable for the outcomes worth ;) Apparently SDDM does not provide any such function for theming. - Apr 12 2020
Thank you kvanheurck I'm glad you like it, that was exactly the idea when making this :) - Apr 12 2020
Also if you're up for some debugging to get this working (maybe for others as well): We need theme specific output, so one way could be to test the theme from CLI. From within your desktop session launch a terminal (probably Konsole in your case since its Kubuntu) and type the following:

sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/sugar-candy

Whatever the visual result may be, the terminal will now give you very theme-specific feedback regarding errors like missing packages for the tested theme. Please get back with any errors (EE) you might see there. - Apr 12 2020
Maybe also try to reinstall sddm and qt5 omitting ‑‑no‑install‑recommends. That is with all the recommends Ubuntu has for you. - Apr 11 2020
As of eoan (19.10) the packages name has not changed at all. It took me two minutes to verify this on packages.ubuntu.com
What's the issue you're having? Please consult your distros (Ubuntu bionic) forums and ask for log locations of SDDM on Ubuntu. Maybe they can give you a hint on what's wrong. I'm no expert on Ubuntu but the package names are correct. You might try to also install libqt5quickcontrols2, maybe even check on libqt5quick5 and libqt5qml5
I would appreciate your feedback if you get it to work. Sorry to hear you got issues. - Apr 11 2020

Hey flanaso sorry for being late but I'm glad you found out what went wrong. Font file names can be tricky on any OS. Heads up for your find and thank you for the love :) - Feb 01 2020
Thank you so much archman73. If you find there may be any improvements don't hesitate to comment or open an issue! :) - Feb 01 2020
Hello skinamarink v1.5 now pulls only the username not the real name. This should prevent the clipping issue mentioned by rplanchuelo. Please try it out :) - Feb 01 2020
Thank you very much! - Feb 01 2020
Hey XenoPL sorry it took me so long. I just published v1.5 which now includes this as an option. Are you coming from BSD? Usually most Linux distros will not allow you to create a mixed case username. I personally also discourage this. But it's there now for whoever really needs it since it would just not work for these cases before. - Feb 01 2020
For now I don't allow such customizations because they can mess up everything layout-wise. I realize that you don't want any padding though, what you really want is to increase the width of the form field region (possibly on an ultra-wide?). Please help me with screenshots on such things by opening an issue on the tracker link above. Thanks! - Feb 01 2020
I could not reproduce this fix the way you mention it. I actually released v1.5 which will now take the username instead of real name in the dropdown. This will prevent such issues. Thank you for the comment! - Feb 01 2020
Awesome rplanchuelo, thank you very much! - Feb 01 2020
Thank you very much! Appreciate it :) - Feb 01 2020
For now there is no option to customize the KDE Plasma lock screen with themes. This means that any custom change needs to be changed in the source files, which would get overwritten instantly at update time (which is quite often in KDE). Sorry. You might want to push for this feature to the KDE design team if this is important to you. - Nov 12 2019

I pushed v1.3 today with several improvements to the keyboard logic including Enter/Return key access on username/password/login fields. If you like it throw me a 10/10 ;D - Oct 05 2019
Hmm weird, I use it several times a day and it works just fine. I'll try to have a look at it when I check the numpad enter functionality. Stay tuned! - Sep 24 2019
Hey Sven, thank you for the flowers. Are you talking about the numpad enter key? Or the return key? The usual return should work fine, I use it every day with this theme. Does it work as you'd expect on other themes? The numpad enterkey will be fixed soon, see below. - Sep 24 2019
Cozza thank you very much for your appreciation. I think I know where this misbehavior is coming from and will try to fix it asap. Thanks for the feedback! - Sep 24 2019
Thank you lokawn for your rating and feedback. Would you care to elaborate on "vertical direction"? I'm not sure I understand you well. Are you using a rotated monitor? There's an issue tracker directly accessible from the tabs above as well. I would appreciate more details on your setup! - Jul 29 2019
Also please don't hesitate to report any bugs or issues you find with the virtual keyboard if you use it! Thanks for your feedback. - Jul 12 2019
Thank you NickLion (*’▽’)ノ^—==━☆゜.*
I'm not sure if I understand you well. I think you got two desires: Have your custom changes to theme.conf stick when I push an update. This is easily accomplished by cloning the theme.conf to a copy called theme.conf.user and change things there. I will mention this in the README.
The second one I assume is you would like to be able to quickly switch your made layouts. This is not possible by design of how SDDM works and is integrated into distros. I would love such an option too but it's not my responsibility as a theme creator. It would call a complete program. I can only adhere to what is available by design.
That said you could create various copies of theme.conf and name them accordingly. Like centered-fullblur.conf or right-to-left.conf and then when you feel like changing back up the original theme.conf and rename one of those.
If I understand you right I think these are valid arguments, but it needs to be done by the end user (you). I will also mention the second argument in the README.
Thanks for the feedback! - Jul 12 2019
Thank you arielaxionl c⌒っ╹v╹ )っ
The virtual keyboard is in itself an optional dependency for SDDM. The theme now provides support for it but I won't mention it specifically as it is a very rare use case. Most of us only know of its existence because some distros install it without us even knowing. Hope you enjoy! - Jul 12 2019

David, it took me some time to actually be able to reproduce this, and for me it only happened with mixed hour format. But actually I just tried to reproduce it again and can not force it anymore? It may have been a bug with KDE that got fixed rather? Is this still true for you? - Oct 13 2019

Hey mshayden. These are only directories as outlined above. It does not include any hardware icons as found usually in /theme/devices. A HDD icon is provided since it is by default found in /theme/places. I may be up for additions but I won't include a whole set of hardware devices for now. If you want point me to a screenshot of your request. Hope you enjoy! - Jun 28 2019

Hey mshayden no worries. This has finally been resolved with the release of v1.1 - KDE changed the path for the default empty folder icon. Radical change which made me go mad for two days...finally found it though :D - Jun 15 2019

Hey nicosariego,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, this is most likely related to the below discussed version requirements.
Line 20 Column 20 in Main.qml is the very first very basic Qt import statement which reads "import QtQuick 2.11".
If this was a formatting issue where Qt would hard require the semicolon then every other user would have this error and not be able to use the theme at all.
You may try to add the semicolon after those import statements in Main.qml and see if that makes a difference for your Qt version, in that case it's indeed a requirement that was removed in newer Qt versions. From there you'd probably get more formatting errors because this was specifically written to newer versions. - Jun 22 2019
I would really advice against partial upgrades to system libraries on a LTS kernel. Qt is a pretty extensive library that provides functions for many programs. Things might break. - Jun 22 2019

Hey ramen. Download the plasma-chili.tar.gz file to your Home folder and open a new terminal. (The path in the following command changes if you save it elsewhere) You can copy paste the following command if you wish to do so or analyze it and execute it step by step:

sudo tar -xzf ~/plasma-chili.tar.gz && sudo cp -R ~/plasma-chili /usr/share/sddm/themes/plasma-chili

This will ask for your password. You should then be able to set your newly installed theme from the system settings. If you're not then you should copy the SDDM default config file and edit it:

sudo cp /usr/lib/sddm/sddm.conf.d/default.conf /etc/sddm.conf && sudo nano /etc/sddm.conf

This will open an editor where you will have to find the [Theme] section and change: Current=plasma-chili
Take note that Plasma 5.8.6 is quite behind the current stable version of KDE and may present unknown behavior. Everything should be fine though. - May 07 2019
