I pretty much dont know anything about graphics, but i liked the functionality to do basic tasks. However some things i found very annoying. For example you cant delete a part of a pic by pressing delete button. I could not find a way how to delete an area at all! resulting in switching back to windows again :(. I think, further versions should consider basic functionalities of that type.

You wouldn't do yourself a favor just for switching back because you don't have del-functionality in krita ;) I don't know how it is in krita - for I'm not able to make a simple selection of a part of the picture at all with it. In Gimp anyway you can delete a part of the picture with Ctrl-X. Maybe you can try that in krita? BTW: this is only the klik package of krita. If you find a bug or have a wish report it to bugzilla (you can find the way via the help menu in krita).

I got the klik client -- even installed and used Skype with it, but... your krita download link does not work the same way, I get a download instead of an install. What am I supposed to do with this krita.cmg? klik://krita.cmg does nothing, and double-clicking it does nothing either. [Mandriva 2005 LE]

Please check if your klik client is current. (There occur daily changes currently). To be sure, re-install:

"wget klik.atekon.de/client/install -O - | sh"

Check if you have the files (shellscripts) .zAppRun and .klik in your ${HOME}.

You can run the klik client on the commandline (with -x for more verbose output):

"sh -x ${HOME}/.zAppRun krita-cmg"

which should startup Krita.

What OS is it that you are using?

Unfortunately, i can`t try it. Seems like krita.cmg is corrupted by download manager or something more worst happens.

Is it wrong or correct?

They are... But they do reflect the current (1.4.2) release. When we get a new release, I'll update them, otherwise I can go on updating them every day. We're talking lightning fast progress here :-).

I like the PSP-like interface, but there seems to be no pressure-sensivity support for tablets, which is vital for any decent graphics editor.

Report

That's probably because you're using a distribution that doesn't compile tablet support into Qt. It's not the default option, and notably Debian doesn't enable it. Kubuntu does, nowadays, and SuSE always did.

If your Qt has tablet support, and you still get no pressure sensitivity, it may be your X11 configuration.

I've been following development of Krita in the blogs and all I can say is congratulations.

I've seen a lot of filters porting from GIMP to Krita. I would like to know if the ported filters can also be used in Digikam.

KDE is, in fact, a synonym for desktop integration, isn't it? :)

Please, people, if you have success running this package, and if nothing works for you, mail me -- boud@rempt.xs4all.nl. I'm trying to figure out for which distributions this way of packaging stuff works, and for which distributions it doesn't.

Interesting information for me is;

gcc version
kde version
qt version
location of kde

and... whether you have followed the instructions at
http://www.valdyas.org/fading/index.cgi/hacking/krita/binary.html?

I also guess, but I'm not sure, that you need to restart KDE or run kbuildsycoca; it may depend a bit whether just running kbuildsycoca works, or not.

It doesn't load at all. Running Fedora Core 3:

There is no error message telling me I'm missing a required file. Any suggestion would be welcome. :)

Hi.
I also had the same problem - to fix, run the command "kbuildsycoca" in a konsole window, then try to run ./krita again...
